1. Buy the egg with the pool you want
Every egg previews its fighter pool. A cheap egg can still contain a targeted common; an expensive egg mostly guarantees a higher rarity band. Read the pool, feel the price, decide. Always balance this against the resource budget.
2. Stack code eggs
Active codes hand out eggs from rarer pools (like Thunder and Scratch) for free. Check the codes page before every session and redeem before hatching runs.
3. Fuse duplicates upward
Common duplicates are fusion fuel. Pair a duplicate with a rare donor to push the result up the rarity ladder. See the fusion guide for the base+donor and locked-trait rules.
4. Use rare donors as bait
Some players keep a single rare fighter explicitly as a fusion donor — locking its rarity influences the output. It's a real strategy for the mid-game roster push, but budget it carefully.
5. Confirm the tier before celebrating
A "rare" label doesn't automatically beat a solid common with a great trait. Verify every pull against the tier list before you rearrange your lineup.
Chasing Secret fighters?
The community-reported route to the 404 Chick runs through the Cursed Egg (laid by the NPC Chick) and the event-only Blazing Egg — see the 404 Chicken guide for the two documented sources and rates.
Rarity ≠ role.
A rare egg drops rarer fighters, but your ladder needs roles (tank, DPS, laying). Build by role first, rarity second.
6. Where each rarity actually lives
Chasing rare chickens goes faster when you know which pool owns the rarity you want, instead of opening whatever is cheapest. The pattern is consistent: the starter pools (Nest, Scratch) supply breadth and donors; the mid pools (Arena, Cursed) gate the bridge chickens that unlock new egg branches; and the premium pools (Thunder, Royal, Void, Colossus, Haunt, Ascension) hold the high-rarity fighters themselves. Progress means moving up that ladder deliberately — and the fastest way to move up is to secure the bridge chicken that unlocks the next pool, not to open more of the pool you already have.
7. Three habits that separate consistent players from lucky ones
- Read the pool before spending. Every egg previews its contents. Opening blind is how Cash disappears without narrowing your roster.
- Bank free eggs from codes. Code eggs come from the same premium pools you would otherwise pay for — claim them before any hatching session so your paid eggs go further.
- Turn duplicates into upgrades. A duplicate is not clutter; it is a donor. Feeding commons into a carry for a locked trait is how a mid-game roster climbs without a lucky pull.
Put together, these habits make rare chickens less about luck and more about sequencing: secure the bridge, read the pool, claim the free eggs, and fuse what you have toward what you need. That is a repeatable route to a stronger roster at any stage of the game.
